Italian Citizenship Assistance

“This is going to be so easy!” I exclaimed after reading the list of documents my husband would need to claim Italian citizenship by descent…

People always laugh when I tell this story,  because anyone who has been through the process knows it is anything but easy!

Perhaps, you too thought claiming Italian citizenship would be a cinch until you ran into problems with your documents―maybe, a birth record can’t be found, or your Italian ancestor’s name is spelled differently on every document.

Or perhaps, you are just getting started but don’t know the native town of your ancestor, or whether they naturalized, or even if you qualify. Wherever you are in the process, I can help make your journey easier and keep you on track by being the person I wish I had to help me.

My approach is a collaborative one!

Let’s work together on this! I will set up a shared workspace for us to share documents and forms. I will create a list of every document you need and the order in which we will request them, but you will receive and collect your own documents— not me.

People have responded positively this collaborative approach because they enjoy being part of the process and they have support every step of the way.

  • "I knew this was going to be a great fit."

“From our first emails and phone conversations, I knew this was going to be a great fit! Not only did Julie help me find documents and information critical to my citizenship case but we went on to write and publish a 45-page book on one branch of my family…Not only has Julie done this with extreme professionalism but now is considered by most of my relatives as part of our family.”

    — Brian Cubellis

  • "I can't imagine doing this on my own."

“Julie has created a process for pursuing dual citizenship that makes it manageable, charting required communications and documents to provide an ongoing record of progress. In the past year she has been responsive to all my questions by email or phone. I can't imagine doing this on my own!“

    — Donna Carlson Yerby

  • "Working with Julie Brown has been a true gift."

“Working with Julie Brown has been a true gift. I had been trying to acquire a dual citizenship for a couple of years, but even with the support of an attorney in Italy I was getting nowhere. The process was arduous and overwhelming. Eventually, I was referred to Julie and I have been grateful for it ever since. Her knowledge of the process, organization, and thoughtfulness has been extremely helpful. There is no way I could do this without her.”

    — Cassandra Mastne

  • "Simply the best..."

“When my clients or I have a question in these matters, “Call Julie” is my perennial and permanent answer and solution. She is simply the best, providing personally tailored work to meet their needs, finding creative solutions to the toughest cases.”

Application Reviews for Chris Papa, Esquire

If you have Pennsylvania vital records that need to be amended, attorney Chris Papa, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, is your guy. I offer application reviews for Chris’ potential clients for $295. You would need to share scanned images of all your documents with me. I will go through every document with a fine-tooth comb to find every discrepancy across your documents, report ways to address the discrepancies with pros and cons, and then meet with you via phone or Zoom to go over your options. Then, with your permission, I would share the images and the results of the application review with Chris. This will give you and Chris the common ground and clarity you need to plan your next steps.

Obtaining Italian Records

Francesco Curione, of 007 Italian Records, is my service provider for obtaining records from Italy. My clients pay him directly for their records, but I handle all communication with Francesco, including filling out forms!

I know from experience that getting records from Italy can be challenging. Sometimes, communes respond in a timely manner, and sometimes, they don’t respond at all. After trying to get a particular record I needed for two years, Francesco got it in two weeks. And, he has been able to get every single record ordered by my clients. He is knowledgeable, organized, and an all-around great guy.

I love his Facebook posts which are full of history about Sicily, where he lives!
